During the past seven years, companies have invested more than $9 billion in capital in the Upstate, creating nearly 35,000 jobs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">On Thursday, March 30<\/span><span class=\"s1\">, 2017 Spartanburg Community College held its Economic Visionaries Event.<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0 This event honors the business leaders in Upstate South Carolina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We are honored that our very own, Mr. Charles Atchison was the recipient of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sccsc.edu\/EconomicVisionaries\/\">2017 Economic Visionaries Award<\/a><\/strong> for his extraordinary leadership in transforming the upstate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We would also like to congratulate three other 2017 Economic Visionaries award winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">Mr. Terry Mallard, President and CEO of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=c6NY9R_DdN8&amp;feature=youtu.be\">Broad River Electric Cooperative<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Mr. Bob Hart, Plant Manager at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wG5qC1ZuNE4&amp;feature=youtu.be\">The Timken Company, Tyger River Plant<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Mr. Max Metcalf, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eAzkfiHwPZo&amp;feature=youtu.be\">Manager of Government and Community Relations at BMW Manufacturing, Inc.<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We are honored to receive this award and look forward to being a part of our region&#8217;s economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/L8vnkN6n1W4?rel=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Photos from the event can be enjoyed by visiting this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/sccsc\/albums\/72157680280349580\/page1\/\">Flicker Link<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Upstate is the engine driving South Carolina&#8217;s new economy.
